Sail News for March 25, 2010 - by David Cook

Hi VMSS Sailors and South Islands IOM Sailors,

Since we missed our 3rd Sunday of the month sailing last Sunday because of the 2nd Spring Series event at Salt Spring Island Sailing Club, we'll do it this Sunday. We're going to start at 11 to coordinate with Martin and the ferry schedule. I may or may not be there subject to the loaner wheelchair having enough battery life. Barry will be there and Jan if he's not called for work.

Last Sunday's regatta was good for participation but very shifty winds with large variations in speeds. Graham was 1st, followed by Martin and Julian. I was top VMSS sailor only due to others' misfortune. It was great seeing Jenny and Dave Taylor, Dave Seager, Barry Fox and Jan Schmidt representing VMSS.

The next VMSS Handicap Club championship Series will be on Sunday April 18th with a 12-12:30 arrival time, 1pm practice and the first scored race starting at 1:30. The $5 per event entry fee is under reconsideration so the overall series cost may go down. There's an Executive meeting tonight to decide so stay tuned. From the change in the leaderboard and the feedback I've received from those who participated, the idea and 1st event was a huge success (considering the crappy winds we had).

The next All Islands Series Event is at a new location on Long Lake, on SATURDAY, April, 24. Please register early on the Yahoo Group database or tell Barry.

Maybe see you on Sunday at 11.

Cheers

David Cook
